Festival Highlights
From the rhythmic beats of raban pada to the colourful energy of traditional dance performances, the Japura Bak Maha Kella was a true showcase of Sri Lankan culture. Visitors were treated to the delicious flavours of Awurudu kema mese, filling hearts and bellies alike with the joy of home.
Children and adults alike took part in traditional New Year games, bringing laughter and friendly competition to the day. A highlight for many was the crowning of our Japura Awurudu Kumara and Kumariya, along with the adorable Singithi Awurudu Kumara and Kumariya – celebrating grace, tradition, and community spirit across generations.
A heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers, performers, and attendees who made this event a resounding success. Together, we celebrated not just a festival, but the strength and beauty of our Sri Lankan identity here in Australia.
