Our Story

Japura Alumni Australia Inc (JAAI) is a community organization incorporated in Australia in 2008 by a group of professionals who are also alumni of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka.

Over the past 16 years, our membership has expanded steadily, becoming a family-friendly forum engaged in a multitude of social and humanitarian assistance activities in both Australia and Sri Lanka. We are a strong member association with links to multiple like-minded groups formed by alumni of other Sri Lankan universities and professionals from various fields and industries.

We organize and host a range of community events for our members, their families, and the wider Australian community. These include:

• New Year Festival.
• Musical events
• Family trips.
• Sports carnival.
• Dinner dances.
• Blood donation drives.
• Founders’ Day celebrations.

Our association’s ongoing signature projects include:

• Japura University Scholarship Program.
• School Scholarships Program.

Additionally, we carry out various one-off welfare projects, such as the installation of oxygen outlets in the hemodialysis unit at the National Nephrology Hospital in Polonnaruwa.
